My fellow nerds are excited. I want to join them. But I can’t, not legally, because I live in Canada. From what I can gather, North Americans will have to wait until May for the show to turn up on television. And because legal download methods and DVD releases tend to follow broadcast releases, there’s no legal way for Canadians to watch Sherlock now — at least not one that I’ve discovered. There are DVDs and Blu-ray versions one could order from the U.K., but they don’t work in most players here. On the version of BBC’s iPlayer that works in Canada, the second series is not available.

The ideal loop is short enough that you can still feel the spark of your idea and you’re still curious to find out if the decision was right or not as you click through the implementation. You can’t fully judge a design until you’ve tried it in action. The clothes simply look different when they’re on. If there are too many changes to evaluate at once, we can’t tell which of the changes contribute to the improvement or regression and how those changes suggest future steps. Moving in one direction in one feedback cycle is easy. Moving in ten directions in the same cycle is too hard.

But this is hardly customer service.  It’s actually getting in the way of a customer who’s trying to self-service because there’s no one around who can answer a basic question about the store’s confusing layout.  It’s anti-service.

BetterSource Safari 5 Extension

BetterSource shows the document source in a new tab, with line numbers, and colour syntax highlighting.

Grateful acknowledgments to SHJS - Syntax Highlighting in JavaScript and jQuery, both used in this extension.

Great way to view source, very similar to chrome.
